What is the minimum educational qualification?
Candidates must have passed 10th/Matriculation with at least 50% aggregate and must have the relevant NCVT/SCVT ITI qualification.
What is the age limit?
The candidate must be 15 years old or above and below 24 years as on 07 July 2026.
Is there any age relaxation?
Yes. SC/ST get 5 years, OBC gets 3 years and PwBD gets 10 years upper-age relaxation; applicable Ex-Servicemen relaxation also applies.
Is ITI compulsory?
Yes. A relevant NCVT/SCVT-recognized ITI certificate/National Trade Certificate is compulsory for the applicable trade.
Which trades have vacancies?
Notified trades include Fitter, Electrician, Welder, Machinist, Mechanic (DSL), COPA, Wireman, Carpenter/Wood Work Technician, Turner, Electrical and Electronics, Stenographer, Painter, Plumber, Draughtsman (Civil) and other listed trades.
What is the application fee?
The fee is ₹100. SC/ST, PwBD and female applicants are exempt from the fee.
How are candidates selected?
Selection is based on a merit list prepared using equal weightage for Matriculation and ITI marks.
Is there a written exam or interview?
No. The notification states that there will be no written test or viva.
How is the merit score calculated?
The percentage of Matriculation and the percentage of ITI marks are averaged with equal weightage.
What happens in case of a tie?
The older applicant is preferred. If dates of birth are also the same, the applicant who passed Matriculation earlier is preferred.
What is the training duration?
The apprenticeship training period is one year.
Will apprentices receive a stipend?
Yes. Selected apprentices will receive stipend during training at the prescribed rate under applicable rules.
Where are the training units located?
Training slots are available across Agra, Prayagraj, Jhansi, Jhansi Workshop, Headquarters and Track Machine Line/HQ units.
Which documents are required?
Applicants must upload documents such as the 10th mark sheet, proof of date of birth, ITI mark sheet/certificate and applicable caste, EWS, PwBD or Ex-Servicemen certificates.
Can a candidate submit multiple applications?
Multiple applications for the same trade with different details are liable to be rejected.
Does apprenticeship guarantee a Railway job?
No. Completion of apprenticeship does not create a right to employment in Railways.
